Supermarkets love offering you the following deal: you get a few pounds off of their products, in return for tracking what you purchase. By knowing what people purchase over time it’s easier to see what products to offer, what deals to offer, etc.
Personally I don’t like the scheme. Not only am I tracked, I also often forget or lose those cards. Signing up can also be a pain. I often solve it by simply entering the supermarket name into my search engine and finding someone who shared a photo or scan of their loyalty card in the past.
Unfortunately this is a bit of a pain. It would be nicer if there was one app with all possible loyalty cards. Here is where my new website comes in: privacycard.meertens.dev.
My goal is to build a collection of loyalty cards worldwide. This will give you easy access to the benefits of the cards (less-expensive products) while removing the tracking aspect and the need to maintain a bunch of cards in your wallet.
In the future I want to see if I can also refresh the cards frequently just in case a supermarket starts blocking some of these cards.
Last but not least: the website is super simple! No need to create an account, no tracking across other websites, and no advertisements. Just pure privacy bliss!
Let me know if you are missing a supermarket or feature at privacycard@meertens.dev!
